a remarkably original example of the iconic, and much beloved inside headlight Series IIA, whose engine sings like a sewing machine, and transmission shifting like a Porsche – well, maybe not quite, but our wonderfully patinated 109 is fully sorted mechanically, and is the epitome of shabby chic.

1962 Land Rover Series IIA 109 5 door station wagon, S/N 26401159A, Bronze Green with grey “elephant hide” upholstery, and white tropical roof, 2.25 litre in-line 4 cylinder petrol engine, 4 speed manual transmission with Fairey overdrive, 4-wheel drive of course, Fairey capstan winch,  completed at the Land Rover factory in Solihull April 13, 1962, exported to the USA and sold new via Lahore Auto to USAF Major R. A. Gorder at the Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, Major Gorder would go on to own the 109 for the next 37 years until selling to just the second owner in 1999, who would go on to commission a thorough mechanical sorting, and who would own the 109 until 2014, complete with British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, original owner’s manual, and original tool roll, with just just four owners and 53,000 miles from new.
